I just published my first book. Do I need any type of license to sell it online?
Whether selling books from home, online or any other format, you first need to select the service business structure among a sole proprietor, a partnership, Corporation or LLC.
Regardless of which one you choose, you will need a general Business License.

If you also use a trade name such as "Your Writer Author Service Provider Book Seller Experts," doing business as (DBA), or you are partnership, to do business (a name other than your full legal name), you also need a DBA doing business as certificate filing.

You do not need a Sellers Permit if the books you sell are just digital downloads but you will need one if they are in a DVD or CD or Printed.
